What does gematria signify

gematria is an ancient method of numeric analysis which has been used by many religions and cultures throughout history, including the Hebrews, Greeks and Egyptians. It is a system of assigning numerical values to letters in words and phrases to then calculate and interpret the value. Gematria has been used as a tool for interpretation of the Bible, Talmud and other Rabbinic literature, as well as Arabian literature. The practice is believed to shed light on otherwise hidden or hidden meaning from words and to capture the essence of the word in an easier-to-understand form.

The concept of Gematria is based on numerology, a practice or study which holds that each letter of the alphabet holds an associated number. The number given to each letter is believed by some to provide insight into deeper meanings within different words when combined together in different sequences. For example, if you take "God" written G-d in Hebrew it would have a numerical value of 14 – representing 7 + 7, depicting perfection and balance within creation.

Gematria can also be seen in many religions such as Judaism and Christianity where people look for allusions or patterns between different texts and their associated numbers, while the origins are thought to have been taken from ancient Babylonian culture where sophisticated mathematical calculations were used for divination purposes.

Proponents believe that by utilizing Gematria we can reveal secret meanings within life's laws as well as get guidance related to our lives' paths. There are also those who believe that we can learn more about important events happening not just around us but in other places around the world through understanding patterns between numbers according to Gematria – essentially seeing what is hidden behind various number combinations regarding artificial or natural phenomena that shape our everyday lives.
